The term "No Reserve" has evolved within existing market places to be synonymous with a deal or a bargain. This is because No Reserve auctions don't have a set reserve price. A starting price is different than a reserve price in that it is visible from the beginning and you can make an instant choice as to bid or not. With an invisible reserve you can only make this decision once you have bid up as high as you feel comfortable. This can be a great waste of time and isn't in the true spirit of an auction. The word auction is defined in the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary as a sale of property to the highest bidder. Putting a reserve price makes it more of a retail transaction.
